ADLER provided civil engineering and surveying services for
this project, which consisted of the construction of a
demonstration home for universal design features,
accessible entrances and routes throughout the site,
elevated entrance walkway via backfill and landscaping
so as to disguise the accessible walk, and creation of a
landscaped reflection garden.
The Universal Design features and concept to be
utilized in this demonstration home were designed and
coordinated with the assistance of North Carolina State
University Center for Universal Design, a CRDA
sub-consultant who specializes in Universal Design
features, and AARP.
ADLER performed and prepared:

Property survey

Consolidation plan
·
Civil engineering design
·
Site development design
·
Landscape architecture
·
Structural engineering for retaining wall/ utility supports
·
Geotechnical investigation
·
Expert testimony to the City Planning Board.
·
Designed site grading and access routes in accordance with
Universal Design Principals
·
Designed healing gardens and landscape architecture
consisting of counseling areas and private meditation
areas
Throughout this project, ADLER interacted and coordinated
design services with other design sub-consultants, CRDA
project managers, the construction manager, and the N.C.
State University Center for Universal Design.
This project was approved by the City Planning Board, fully
permitted, and is currently under construction.
